ALEA Provides Update on Road Conditions Across Northeast Alabama

NORTHEAST, Ala. - Although the snow is moving out of northeast Alabama, many roads across the state are still treacherous for travel.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has provided an update on road conditions across northeast Alabama for these nine counties.

Calhoun County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice. As of 7 a.m., Cottaquilla Rd and Banes Gap are still impassable, According to ALEA.

Cherokee County - All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

Cleburne County – Roadways are still wet with the potential for black ice.

Dekalb County – All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

Etowah County – All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

Jackson County –  All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

Madison County – All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

Marshall County - All state and federal roads have been treated and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.

St. Clair County – Most of the snow on the interstates has melted, but black ice could still form in areas with residual moisture and freezing temperatures.

Please use extreme caution when driving in winter weather as well as on icy roadways. ALEA Troopers will continue to monitor roadway conditions and provide updates accordingly.
