GADSDEN, Ala. — The Gadsden State Fine Arts Department is holding auditions for three of its performance groups. Full- and half-scholarships will be awarded to members of the Show Band, A Cappella Choir, and Theatre Program upon successful auditions.
To be considered, those auditioning must be U.S. citizens and a resident of Alabama. Students do not have to be music or theatre majors to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships begin for the fall semester.
The Gadsden State Show Band auditions will be on March 14, 16, 28, and 30. Those who audition should be prepared to perform at least two different pieces showcasing their musical abilities. Students do not have to be music majors to be awarded a band scholarship. To schedule an audition, contact Desmond Mitchell, band director, at 256.549.8394 or rmitchell@gadsdenstate.edu.
The Gadsden State Singers and A Cappella Choir are currently scheduling auditions for the 2023-24 groups. Singers will perform two songs of contrasting styles and genres. To schedule an audition, contact J.T. Harrell, choral director, at 256.549.8391 or jharrell@gadsdenstate.edu.
The Gadsden State Theatre Department requires students to perform two contrasting monologues approximately one minute in length during the audition. Students do not have to major in theatre, but they are required to enroll in a theatre course each semester.
