Breaking News: Overturn Tanker Truck Leaking Hazmat Substance in Rainsville

RAINSVILLE- A tanker truck overturned Thursday morning in Rainsville leaking a substance that it was carrying onto the road. The substance is classified as a hazmat spill which has a threat to life safety issues. People are being told not to approach the Rainsville Red light and evacuation is recommended 1000 feet from the AL 35 and AL 75 intersection in Rainsville.


DeKalb County EMA and emergency personnel have evacuated everything within 800 feet, along with detours that have been set up at the following:

Hwy. 35 from Fort Payne will detour onto Marshall Road

Hwy. 35 from Powell will detour onto Rainbow Ave.

Hwy 75 N will detour onto Marshall Road

Hwy 75 S will detour onto George Wallace


Please use extreme caution in this area and follow all detour signs. We will update with more as it becomes available.
