Pedestrian Killed Tuesday Morning in Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE, AL - Per reports from Fort Payne Asstistant Police Chief Lee Traylor, on Tuesday, December 5, at approximately 10 am, Fort Payne Police responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian being struck.


The accident took place at the intersection of Gault Ave North and Greenhill Blvd, also known as the North-Y.


During preliminary investigation it was indicated a 2022 Freightliner truck was turning northbound onto Gault Ave North when a pedestrian, Cameron Mitchell McGill age 48 of Fort Payne, was struck.


Reports from the scene indicated that McGill had stepped in front of the Freightliner truck and the driver was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian. McGill was pronounced deceased at the scene.


No further information is available at this time and the accident is still under investigation.
