LEESBURG, Ala. - Surrounded by family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officials, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy Zack Ellison was sworn in as the newest Assistant Police Chief and Investigator for the Leesburg Police Department.

Ellison said, "I committed to serving this community and ensuring Leesburg's safety."

Ellison's wife, Brittany, held the Bible while Probate Judge Tim Burgess officiated the ceremony.

“The reason I got into law enforcement was to help people and give back to the community I grew up in.  My favorite part of my job would be getting out and speaking to members of the community and having positive interactions with them.  The best advice I have been given is to treat others how you want to be treated. The best advice I could give the residents of the county would be, to always do what’s right, not what’s easy,” Ellison said back in 2023.

The Leesburg Police Department is comprised of five members: Chief of Police Hunter Brisendine, (Newest) Asst. Chief/Investigator Zack Ellison, Patrol Officers Seth Hood, Frank Deharo, and Tanner Young. The Leesburg Police Department is dedicated to safeguarding its community through prompt response to service calls, enforcing traffic safety laws, and patrols to prevent crime, and taking a proactive approach to combat narcotics, violent crimes, and property crimes through strategic operations and collaborations with other agencies. The community's safety is their priority.
